Edwards also has his own popular <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@PhilEdwardsInc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">YouTube channel<\/a> with nearly 260,000 subscribers. In this post, we\u2019ll cover some of the high-level takeaways from the discussion between Edwards and Lauren Zoltick, Storyblocks\u2019 Director of Performance Marketing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-why-ai-editing-tools-are-a-great-option-for-creative-professionals\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Why AI editing tools are a great option for creative professionals<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AI has applications for every production stage. Not only can it save time, effort, and money, it also allows creators to fearlessly tackle more ambitious projects. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AI\u2019s large language models can simplify the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.storyblocks.com\/resources\/blog\/video-pre-production-planning-tools\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pre-production process<\/a> by generating ideas about everything from scripts to shot composition. You might discover something you never would have tried before AI that significantly elevates your video.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-how-to-evaluate-ai-s-place-your-current-production-workflow\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How to evaluate AI\u2019s place your current production workflow<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It can be tempting to jump in with both feet when a new technology like AI comes along. But it\u2019s wise to first examine your production workflow for specific areas where AI can actually serve your processes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AI is capable of doing many things, but it\u2019s not always the right fit for every creator or team. As Phil points out, you want to evaluate its potential on its merits, not just by how cool the technology is. Sometimes, Phil says, \u201cI become enamored with a capability and then later on I realized I just sort of had this crush on a product that\u2019s not actually practical or tasteful to incorporate for the rest of my work.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But once you find the right use case, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.storyblocks.com\/resources\/blog\/top-3-ways-creators-are-using-ai-for-content-creation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">AI can really expand your capabilities<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Phil uses ChatGPT to assist in creating animation with Adobe Premiere and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.storyblocks.com\/templates\/after-effects-templates\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">After Effects<\/a>. Many After Effects animations are created by inputting JavaScript-like \u201cexpressions\u201d that allow you to manipulate objects. This can be daunting to creators without programming backgrounds, but for Phil it was no problem. \u201cI\u2019m not a programmer, but I can describe the expression that I want to ChatGPT and it\u2019ll give me code to use,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although the expressions that AI outputs don\u2019t always work. But when they do, Phil says, \u201cI end up being a much more robust animator than I would have otherwise been.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-1-ask-yourself-what-parts-of-production-are-taking-up-the-most-time\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Ask yourself what parts of production are taking up the most time<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It becomes easier to figure out how to integrate AI into your workflow when you know where you\u2019re spending the most time. Start by breaking out your production workflow by stages and identify areas that could be done more efficiently. After all, problem solving is one of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.storyblocks.com\/resources\/blog\/video-editing-skills\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">key skills video editors need to know in 2026<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Audio, as well as transcription-based editing were two of Phil\u2019s biggest time-consumers. Before AI, he says, \u201cI used to have to go through this very laborious process in order to get [the audio quality] there.\u201d Once you find the right AI tool, however, Phil estimates that \u201cyou can save ten times the speed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trial and error is part of any creator\u2019s AI video journey. As Phil puts it, \u201cI think it\u2019s just kind of seeing what you gravitate toward project after project. Then it\u2019ll save you enough time that you\u2019ll have to use it, it\u2019ll feel imperative.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-2-determine-what-parts-of-production-are-your-weak-spots\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Determine what parts of production are your weak spots<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By Phil\u2019s own admission, audio has traditionally been a huge weak spot for him. But AI has given him the confidence to create at a higher level. AI, Phil says, \u201ccan do what I simply could not achieve on my own because of lack of skill and resources.\u201d Audio processing, once an arduous, multi-hour process, now can be done in \u201ca matter of minutes,\u201d Phil says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Phil says AI has totally changed his workflow, especially when it comes to audio. He says audio \u201ccan be tangibly approved with AI to this kind of professional level.
